1776 kicked things off bright and early this morning with news that they are hosting a Global Challenge Cup. As I reported earlier today, 16 cities are being invited to participate in the regional round. Some are obvious picks–D.C., San Fran, LA, Boston, and NY are often bandied about as startup hubs. It will be interesting to see what the participation from the international sector brings–Capetown and Moscow, Beijing and Sao Paolo, we’re all ears here in D.C. I’m slightly curious why Indianapolis didn’t get a nod, but Burfield says that other cities are welcome to host their own competitions–he just won’t be organizing them. Sixteen regional competitions, apparently, are enough.
